Hoping it counts as a "food", But I have to say Apple Cider. Specifically, the first time I fill a pot on the stove, or the crock pot, and let it go all day simmering with Mulling spices. The Whole house smells like fall!

For me, I'd say another one that we enjoy around that time of year would be Anzac Biscuits (cookies) which are an oat based biscuit sweetened with golden syrup.  Anzac Day is similar to your Veterans day, but we remember all of our Australian and New Zealand men and women who served in the wars.

This is a tricky one in the UK where it's quite often a bit chilly. However the end of summer means fruit and where I am in Gloucestershire means Apple and Blackberry pie or crumble with custard. Or anything with apples. Cider (Hard Cider in the US) is pretty much all year round here!

But Yes an Anzac Biscuit is amazing, but you need the right ones with that perfect combination of Crunch and Chewiness.

@Nicole Milliken you have to visit Australia between Dec 27th and April 20 next year. Hot Cross Bun (traditional with fruit) Cut in Half, Toasted under a grill then slathered with Butter (can't be Margarine). It will make you want to move to Australia.

I live in the Philippines and we don't experience autumn but when it starts to get cold up around September in the northern part of the country we love our sugar-sprinkled donuts called "Long Johns" and cup brewed mountain coffee.

Most of the Halloween traditions around my region are - just parties and sugary treats (similar ingredients in different shapes & colours basically.)
We go heavy on sweet & deep-fried stuff like - Jalebis & Gulab Jamuns.

However, what I wait for the most is - Carrot-Pudding (Gajar-Halwa)
{Just cook grated carrots with milk, sugar, and ghee until the mixture thickens, then garnish with nuts and serve warm.}
