Hey Developer Community,
Navigating content at Genesys can be tough. Today, I want share some vital tips that should make your life easier. I want to cover the following:
- Topic Tags - How to Browse and Follow
- Favorite Posts
- How to Receive Community Notifications
- Search Recommendation
Hopefully this will help you navigate and stay in touch with all of the content that you crave on your new community's site and beyond.
WELCOME TO THE COMMUNITY!
Before I begin, welcome to the Genesys Online Community! We have been here for six years and we have a ton of other Public Communities that may interest you. Take some time to browse and join the communities that peak your interest. I always recommend the Welcome Community if you are new and the Genesys Cloud - Main Community if you want to get a wide view of everything people at Genesys are talking about.
That brings us to today's topic. This site has a mix of Communities, like the Developer, Reporting & Analytics, and WEM Communities. These communities have their own messaging boards for members to ask questions, share ideas, and talk about their interests.
Navigating Topic Tags
Most of our communities have Topic Tags. These are the tags that must be chosen before a discussion can go live. Here is an example from our friends at the Reporting & Analytics Community.

Once the tag is selected and the post is live, it will show up at the top of the discussion, like this:

And in the body of the discussion as hash tags, like this:

You can click those tags to see all of the posts that include it. For instance, I clicked the calculations option and it took me here:

This is a great way to navigate and browse discussions in the topics that interest you most.
Following Topic Tags
A question I get asked often is, "Can I receive Community Notifications for specific topics?" The answer is yes!
To do this, you want to go to your profile and navigate to the bottom of the page (below all of those cool badges you have earned). And look for "Stated Interests":

If you know the topics you want to follow, you can click the "Add a Topic" button. And then start searching for your topic of choice.

Quick Reminder - Some topics are used in multiple communities, like "Announcements" so make sure you are selecting the correcting Community you want to receive notifications from.
Follow or Favorite Posts
You may not want to see EVERY post about a topic, but maybe there are certain threads you want to keep up with? If so, I have some good news.
First, any post that you add a reply to, you are automatically following! So if a new reply comes in, you will get notified.
If you see a posts that interests you, but you don't have anything to share, you can follow it by clicking the "Follow" star in the header. It looks like this:

Not Receiving Any Email Notifications?
No emails about posts or tags you are following? This can happen! Sometimes your IT department needs to whitelist the Genesys (Genesys.com) or Community's email domain (ConnectedCommunity.org).
Most of the time though, you want to make sure your community profile is setup to receive Community Emails.

Also, make sure you are subscribed to your favorite communities' Notifications, which can give you a regular cadence of digests. "No email" means no email!

If you want to keep notifications to a minimum, a Weekly Digest might be best for you:

Any Recommendations for Searching Content?
Another question I hear a lot is, "What is the best say to navigate all of the content across all of the sites Genesys has? This has the easiest answer. Google is always a great option, but I recommend the Genesys Knowledge Network (or GKN). Check out the site! It should be self explanatory. Sign in to get a personalized experience!
The best part is that the GKN offers unified search across Genesys sites and it exists on the community in the brain tab, that little icon to the right of this discussion post.

Click that and a fly out opens that has a search bar. You can use it to browse documentation, training and community posts.

That concludes this summary. Hope the overview was helpful? If you want more tips about the community, check out the Welcome Community's Debut Challenge. It covers a lot of great topics.
Cheers,
