On March 23, the new Analytics Workspace will go live in the Performance menu in Genesys Cloud. Users can build and save custom views, and toggle between tabs, saving time and effort. Please watch our demo for a preview of the changes. If you have any questions, we will host two live Genesys Community AMA ("Ask Me Anything") events: before the release on March 22nd, 12 - 2pm EST, and after the release on March 29nd, 12 - 2pm EST.

@Drew Gaynor Has this feature rollout been stopped? We are in APSE2 region and still seeing the old layout?

When you say 'Other regions - before 8am Thursday' - which time zone are you talking about? Is that based on the AWS region timezone? US timezone?

Hey @Jeff Hoogkamer and @Vaun McCarthy, that's a good idea! We can definitely talk about it in the future. The great thing about an AMA is that you can post your questions early and Maisey or her team will respond. To clarify, this isn't a webinar. Just a dedicated time that Maisey will be answering questions live in the community, but she's pretty good about answering questions outside of AMAs, so let us know what questions you have and we'll do our best to help.

Also, I wanted to add that I'm glad the interest is there! We want these events to be easy for everyone to participate in the knowledge sharing, so maybe we'll do a separate event for this purpose. Reach out to me with any topic ideas you may have.

When workspaces are released, you can click the corner of a tab, and then click "Save as." That will save all filters, etc. in the same way that saved views works.

@Monique Morel-Peseski  it's a stability guardrail. Running certain reports can be computationally intensive. We want to make sure that only reports that users still want are running, to make sure system resources are best used where they're needed. You can certainly run a scheduled report for more than 100 days, you just will need to re-confirm that you still want it.

Thanks for this. Missed this announcement and was quite surprised this morning with this change.

Not a problem for myself and my managers to navigate through the workspace. We will get used to it. Unfortunately my agents are getting errors saying they don't have tab permissions so they cannot view their performance or the queue performance. Strange that their permissions as PureCloud 3 user wouldn't include this permission. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

@Julie Green All users should still have access to the views as they did before even if they don't have the tabs permissions. If they follow the Workspace link, the views are all available in the Default area on the left. We are not able to add new permissions to existing roles, but the tabs permissions can be added to any role in Admin.

@Drew Gaynor thanks for your response. We are getting this message for custom roles, "You are missing tab permissions. Your tabs, filters, and other settings will not be saved between sessions until you have all Analytics Tab Configurations permissions granted. More information is available in the Resource Center."

Can the users ignore this warning. Any impact if we are not providing tabs access ?

    Hi @Justin Kennedy,
You can solve this by adding the following permissions to any role in admin:

    • Analytics > Tab Configurations > View permission
    • Analytics Tab Configurations Edit permission
    • Analytics > Tab Configurations > Delete permission

Even without those permissions, analytics views will work as before, but if you close the browser, for example, your open tabs will not be remembered without those permissions.

We are not able to backfill existing roles with new permissions, thus the notice indicating that as a new service, there are some additional tab permission requirements.

    Hope that helps!

We have added these permissions in our role for agents, but they are still not able to save views and have no access to previously saved views.  Are there other permissions that need to be added?

@Christina Brooks They shouldn't need any additional permissions beyond the new tab permissions if they previously had saved view permissions. However, the buttons to save views DID move.
To save the tab you are currently on, click the "3 dots" menu, then click "Save as" and a sidebar will open as before.

Existing saved views will show up in the Saved views section of the workspace landing page, which you can get to by clicking the "+" tab on the far right.

@Christina Brooks Do those users have the following permissions now, and/or did they previously have these permissions? These are the same permission users previously needed to save a view.

We've got the Analytics Workspace and so far so good for the most part. One minor issue we're noticing - When this was deployed, did something change with the Dashboard view permission? Some of my users that previously had Dashboards under the Performance menu do not have that option listed in the Default view menu in the Analytics workspace.

@Emily Kammerer thanks for the question. The link to Dashboards in the Workspace is currently requiring both the dashboard view and edit permissions, which is a bug. It should only require the view or edit permission. We are working on a fix for that. In the meantime, you can work around the issue by navigating directly to the view as follows (this will differ depending on your region).

Thanks for the update. Would it be possible to flag new options or changes to the menu with the color red and the word New! or something like that? It would make it easier to notice first thing in the morning and might cut down on the number of cases generated after a change.

Like others, we were also caught off-guard today. This was a big change for supervisors and managers. It should have been communicated clearly and noticeably that the numerous analytics views under Performance were moved to the new Workspace. The title "Introducing analytics workspace" doesn't really describe its important significance.

Regarding the weekly release notes on Wednesdays, would it be possible to include both of these?
    • Today's new releases.
    • Planned releases for next week.
This may reduce some anxieties on Wednesday mornings.

    Feedback so far:
    Like the new steam-lined look

No ability to sort by division is a huge issue for me, since I have views for my whole org based on divisions by business unit name (by queue, agents interactions, etc)
I'm sad that I no longer have the ability to manually sort my saved views like before by dragging , so now I have to rename all my views.

    Future thoughts:
Would love to be able to click and drag tabs to the order I want them
Would love to be able to save my workspace view, so it automatically opens the tabs I want (in the order saved)

Notification when the dashboard bug is fixed in the Admin release notes would be great :-)

Thanks for the new and improved look

    Hi,

My manager came across this update Friday when he happen to go into the community, had he not done that we would've been even more blindsided and ill prepared for this release. Our department needs time to test, build communication/training material, distribute it to our company, and prepare for questions and calls. There's the ideas board, the community, and our internal rep with Genesys, but none can provide us with fair amount of time to prepare for releases. I really don't know where to go to talk about getting information and access sooner than the day of or a couple days prior. The video that was posted was more so marketing and advertising for the feature, but what about communication material for the Genesys Admin owners at companies that are responsible for Genesys within companies? The last minute communications, or sometimes none at all unless we stumble upon it in these saturated threats that are spread out across channels are not helpful. Our Genesys admin team treats our users like our own internal customers, and it creates a poor experience and negative taste for the system and our department when we can't better prepare our lines of business's about changes. We are looking for dates, availability to test in dev or beta, and a fair amount of advanced notice to do our job. Discussion threats and ideas are so over saturated and allows us to choose whatever verbiage we want, so if we aren't using the same vocabulary when we search an idea before creating one, or looking for a discussion threat, then it falls through the cracks. Does anyone have any suggestion on where I go to get to the root of this reoccurring issue?

    Hey Amanda,

I want to let you and everyone who has written in with similar questions know that I hear your frustration and will work with our PM and communications teams to see how this process can be improved, especially as it pertains to your community experience.

I really like your idea of defining and decluttering clear channels of communication for announcements like this to cut through the noise of the community. That is something I can definitely help with and something I think we've already taken a step towards (more on that below). That being said, I cannot talk about a future state right now and I will never promise something that I cannot deliver, but I can talk about our current state and let everyone know how they can maximize their use of this channel/site.

For this release, the community and collaborators worked to get the word out in the following ways (this are in chronological order):

    1. We released a Q&A Episode dedicated to this topic in February,
    2. A pinned discussion post (the one we are chatting in right now),
    3. Two events were listed in the events tab to announce the Ask Me Anything (AMA) schedules dedicated to this event (the first was yesterday, the second is next week), and
    4. As long as your Notifications are turned on, items 1-4 should have shown up in email digests as well as on the community pages.
      1. Please, make sure your notifications are turned on and check them out (it typically takes me 30 seconds to read the daily digests). Additionally
    5. I also mentioned the AMA events and this feature release in the Community Email that went to everyone's inboxes last week.
      1. Please, make sure your profile is signed up for "Community Emails".
    6. If you ever see a post that interests you and you want to stay updated on replies that come in, click the follow star in the upper right of the discussion post (near the header). Notifications will be sent directly to your inbox.
There is one new addition to the community that I hope can help with situations like this and that is the Genesys Cloud - Beta HQ community. In time, this will be an invaluable resource for learning about Beta opportunities, following their progress, and staying up to date with launch announcements. The community launched last week! So please join when you get a moment if you haven't already.

Just as a reminder, there is a 2nd AMA coming up dedicated to the Analytics Workspace next week on March 29th. I hope you can join or submit your questions ahead of time!

Always feel free to stay in touch with me and let me know if I can help with anything. As we make progress on this request, I'll update the community in posts and on the Q&A Show.

Cheers, and thanks for your feedback!

    Thank you Matt.

All of that is great and I guess I am glad to hear that I am not the only one not using the community page for update information. I love that Genesys offers a variety of resources but for a change like this I think it needs a specific call out communication or to be included on the Release Notes before the actual change is implemented. I don't have an enormous call center but significant changes to their interface without warning stops them in their tracks!
Being able to view the changes or work within the views ahead of time would be even better so we can best navigate questions and troubleshooting. I am not sure the best way to facilitate this. The Q&A segment referenced above doesn't really get into the weeds too much about the changes and how to navigate the update (like having to update the agents permissions).
I do try to scan the community digest email daily to see what's out there but don't always dive in to see all of the post details. I don't know that the expectation has been set that this is the place to find out about product enhancements and changes. I agree with Amanda that these communications should live elsewhere. We work with so many products and vendors and get so many product and company "updates" it can really become noise rather than a call to action.
Sorry, not really offering much of a solution except to either add to release notes PRIOR to update and/or provide separate notification for major interface changes.

    Hi Everyone,

I saw a post today on the WEM community called Genesys Cloud Arrivals and I hope other areas adopt something similar.  Basically it lists the roadmap features, the ETA for the release date and it's current status.  Here is the link if anyone is interested https://community.genesys.com/viewdocument/genesys-cloud-wem-feature-roadmap?CommunityKey=f6e20f73-2c94-4b44-be95-118216aafb4f&tab=librarydocuments.  Something like this should help keep us up to date on where things are in the release schedules for Genesys (I hope).

I feel like this is a great start to keep people in the loop for any coming features/enhancements and I hope to see more of it from Genesys

    Thanks!

Thanks Matt for taking the time reply and hear us out. I agree with @Julie Green that I don't think it is understood this is where we come for such important updates. Some are minor, but one like this was more impactful and answering people's questions in this feed is more reactive than proactive. If there are employees that are new to their Genesys Admin role, it is not understood that this is where we come for important updates because of all the other "noise" and congestion. While a lot of things you mentioned are true and other things I will make sure I spend more time investing into, the timing was abrupt for most of those communications. The AMA was a day prior to release. The feature release notes are still a crunch too. The thing is, an idea can sit in here for years. I don't necessarily know what "in progress" and "in development" means in terms of time frames because that also varies greatly. Maybe an additional status can be created that would be really eye catching, or to filter by. This one still says in development for example. I think the inconsistency is what throws me off. Sometimes our internal rep informs us, sometimes we catch things ourselves, other times it's lost in translation or saturation. I like the ideas you and some others had, and agree with @Jason Lorden that a list of action items and dates would be very helpful. @Monique Morel-Peseski Her suggestion of a phased release is nice too. Or at least something that we can control, something we have to turn on or grant access to for a period of time before its automatic and the previous view goes away?

Thanks again and I will do my best to invest more time in all your suggestions, I usually only turn on notifications for discussions and ideas I come in to look for before submitting an idea so keep it relevant since there is so much that is not relevant in our environment.

    @Scott Tucker Well said!

@Matt Lawson Another thing to consider with timing of releases, vacation time. If someone was off the week prior, or this week that puts us in a really tough spot. I had some vacation time the two days before go live and dropped all my other work when I returned to work on communication materials and last minute demo meetings for managers and supervisors. My manager has back to back meetings all day, most days, he too had to drop everything. I think the "passion" from these messages came from the stress and feeling inadequate in our own work environments.

It really is a great upgrade and very beneficial for many of our users, I hate to overlook the fact that Genesys is consistently looking to improve it's features. If you would like me to create an idea for rollout process, I could, or if it's already being considered then that's great! Thanks for all your replies and patience as I know you are just one person representing a whole team.

Matt, appreciate your responses in here today.

My team was blindsided by this update as no one on our Genesys account team made us aware that we should be monitoring specific community areas for important updates like this. It is my experience that very few people in our org, and likely others, have time to scour forums and web platforms on a daily or weekly basis to try to keep their production environments from breaking by way of promised "seamless" feature updates.

My major issue is that, even if we HAD known this was coming, your implementation of this feature went completely sideways, and Genesys ended up providing a workaround to distribute to users instead of delivering a working product. The entire process of dev > testing > customer notification > rollout needs to be evaluated at Genesys. As a customer that does the majority of our business over the phone, snafus like today are deeply impactful to us, and everyone at our company who has any role within the Genesys software will remember this incident for the remainder of our partnership for better or worse. We hope Genesys listens carefully to the measured feedback in this thread, as I feel many customers have been more gracious than Genesys deserves today.

The rollout for this has been botched. There's no other way to say it.

Does Genesys follow ITIL for change management? If so, what was the rollback plan for this if things didn't go as planned?

Does Genesys offer a delayed channel to avoid being guinepigs that suffer failed rollouts in the future? If so, how do we get on that? If not, please add this moving forward until you've got better change management in place and can roll back botched patches in a more appropriate manner.

The response on all of this from support and support management has been pitiful. This caused a huge disruption to my call center yesterday through today and so far all we've been told is it's being looked into and that as a "workaround" we can send a static link to dashboards to agents, which in my opinion isn't a workaround at all.

How do I have someone from higher up the Genesys chain contact me to discuss my concerns directly? So far everyone I've asked has failed to respond.

    @Amanda Logue

I am one of those Admins you talk about, but for my company. I stumbled upon this new update as well, just before launch. We just went live with GC and have multiple divisions and multiple business units using this platform that I am responsible for (including documentation). What's even more challenging is understanding the impact when we don't have access to the new features ahead of time to get familiar with them.

    @Drew Gaynor, @Jacqueline Minkler
Just thinking out loud...Is there a way of having a phased approach for releases? eg:  have your initial beta testers, then a pre-release (so we can add the new features manually to try them out) and then the in general production release? Or something like that? Especially for things like this that are more "visible" like a fresh new look?

Cannot agree with this more. Genesys needs to do far better on not only communicating upcoming changes clearly and concisely, but also explaining what the impact will be on orgs and what changes orgs MUST make for these changes to work, for instance adding Analytics Tab Configurations permissions to existing roles to even get into this new feature.

They also MUST get a delayed rollout for orgs who cannot take hours or even days of downtime while they decide to fix bugs that pop up after rollout. These need to be done via a beta/deferred channel program like most modern software providers run.

    Unacceptable.

Hey All - I'm running into a problem. Every agent is able to see ALL evaluations, admin reports..etc. really permissions they should not have. I have made sure that the 3 roles they are assigned to do NOT have the following:
    • Analytics > Tab Configurations > View permission
    • Analytics Tab Configurations Edit permission
    • Analytics > Tab Configurations > Delete permission
However, everyone still has full access.
How can I adjust the view filters?
    Thank you

We were able to get our agents to view the dashboards by adding UI  Agent Dashboard Performance  View permission to their role.

    Hi All,

We wanted to provide an update on our Analytics Workspaces GA release.

Analytics Workspaces is currently only rolled out to USE1, USE2, USW2, and CAC1 regions. A bug was identified yesterday around some users' ability to see the link to the Dashboards home page. Since there are workarounds and the Care team is able to communicate those out, we do not plan to roll back the change. However, we don't want to introduce the bug in additional regions. The team is working on a hotfix for this issue and we plan to resume rolling it out asap once the fix is in place. We will provide more updates once the fix is resolved and what our new rollout schedule will be for the remaining regions.

    FAQs:

    1. Dashboard Workarounds
      1. If you are unable to access the Dashboard link from the Workspace, you can still access it directly at https://apps.mypurecloud.com/directory/#/analytics/dashboards
        • Note: the ".com" will be different depending on region. Example ".ie" for Ireland, etc.
      2. If the roles allow, providing a user with both "dashboard view" AND "dashboard edit" permissions will enable the Dashboard link from the Workspace.
        • It should be "dashboard view OR dashboard edit" but this will be updated with the bug fix.
    2. To get to the Workspace landing page, click the "+" tab.
    3. Saving Views
      1. Save As is still available - click the 3 dots on the tab you are currently on to save.
      2. Your old list of saved views is still available on the Workspace landing page.
      3. To find a specific saved view, you can use the saved views search bar.
    4. The yellow notice about tab permissions
      1. Users need the new permissions to add new tabs during the current browsing session, and for the open tabs to be remembered if, for example, you close your browser and come back.
        • Analytics > Tab Configurations > View permission
        • Analytics > Tab Configurations > Edit permission
        • Analytics > Tab Configurations > Delete permission

                                Additional Resources:

                                1. Feature Documentation
                                2. Demo of the new functionality
                                3. If you are still having trouble accessing the dashboards or with saving, please contact Customer Care

We apologize for the inconvenience! Thank you all for your patience as we work to quickly resolve this issue.

                                Hi Chrissy,

If you remove their edit permissions, they can still access the Dashboards by sending them a direct link to the dashboard landing page (https://apps.mypurecloud.com/directory/#/analytics/dashboards). I would recommend working with Care to help troubleshoot the issue if they are still seeing items they aren't supposed to. Our update shouldn't have opened up permissions like that.

                                Thanks,

Why was this bug only found on rollout? Why wasn't something as basic as this tested in beta from either you or beta testers? What was the rollback plan for this rollout if things went south, and why wasn't this enough to trigger that plan?

Lots and lots of questions for Genesys to answer on this one.
