I don't know where that recommendation for only in Dev orgs is really coming from. I see virtual edges sold for production orgs quite often, and as long as the VM is sufficiently provisioned it is fine (not the minimum of 8GB of RAM, etc., but a VM that matches the capabilities of a physical edge).
Basically, the issue is Microsoft licensing for the Edge VM. We have a deal worked out with Microsoft for Hyper-V (go figure). However, we do not have the same deal for VMWare. That is because there has not been enough interest expressed in VMWare to warrant pursuing that licensing arrangement.
So, keep voting it up. Product Management needs to now it really is a priority to run virtual edges on VMWare.

Thanks for creating the idea Jorge - I've voted on it too.
I understand Genesys saying virtual edges shouldn't be used in a production environment but more and more that's becoming a harder argument to make. It wasn't that long ago we wouldn't have even considered VMWare for some on premises Engage stuff but we've got at least one major government organisation running that on ESX and more coming on board.

I am running Hyper-V. There is a manual configuration change required in VMware so that Hyper-V can be run under VMware (you can easily find that with Google).

Hi @Wong Ricky so you are running Hyper-V under an OS running in VMWare? Or are you running the Virtual Edge appliance image directly under VMWare Workstation?

I have run Virtual Edge successfully on VMWare Workstation and performance is OK (I used it for development / testing). However, it is not formally supported. One of the keys is to have stable Internet connection which allows all SIP, RTP traffic to properly pass through.

Hi,
One of our customer is asking to have Virtual Edges deployed on VMWare (vmware esxi 6.7 platform).
But in the Resource Center, we find that this is only available for HyperV.
Is this possible?
This can be the case for many of our customers willing to use Virtual Edges.
Thanks again in advance for your help.
