  • 1.  "Retryable Reason Codes" in external trunks can only accept SIP response codes from 500-599??

    Hi everyone,

    I have a question about external trunks.
    Does anyone know that the "Retryable Reason Codes" only works with 500-599??
    I tested the movement of this feature in my lab environment, and this feature did not work with the response code 408 TimeOut.

    Open a ticket on this one.  Yes, putting 408 in there should be the fix, but I am just guessing here - that code might be reserved for timeouts to allow for overflow routing to sip servers and trunks in the system.  See if the carrier or SBC can convert that to a 508.

    Hi Robert,

    Thank you for sharing your idea.
    Yesterday, I changed the SBC manipulation settings and let the SBC send the response code 500 instead of 408, and this did work!
    I could make an outbound call via 2nd external trunk.

    I have got an answer from the support team.
    There is the same configuration under Edge Group section, and with the configuration Retryable Reason Codes feature worked with 408 Timeout.

    What I am wondering is "When is the Retryable Reason Codes in External Trunks used?"
    From the result of my testing in my lab environment,
    -Only External Trunk -> did not work
    -Only Edge Group -> did work
    -Both External Trunk and Edge Group -> did work

    As I alluded to before, I think the trunks in Genesys use 408 internally as we would Options for keep-alive and failover, so that they can have multiple trunks and automatically fail over between them.  I am also guessing (long shot) that since the Edge is a SIP proxy, it transforms messages on the SBC side of it to internal messaging to Genesys Cloud so that 408 is interpreted as retry by the Edge and passed to Genesys as 500 or other number internally.  Just a guess mind you, but explains what you were seeing.
