  • 1.  Web Messaging - Chat Language Translation Options

    Hello,

    I know there is a blue print here for Chat Translation for the Web Chat channel (Version 1.1 and Version 2). Build a chat translation assistant with the AWS Translate service (genesys.cloud)

    I am trying to find similar solutions for web messaging. Any ideas?

    This works just like Agent Assist where it is looking at the notification for the digital channel and does the translation in a widget.  You could build the same widget supporting Web Messaging as it does chat by adding messaging and web messaging to the supported channel types and see if that works.

    Our team is actively updating that Blueprint to support Web Messaging.  It should be available in about 2 weeks if we don't find any major problems during our QA.

    This is awesome News Jim. You'all rock!!

    Another question around this. Does this work with bot flows that may be been built with say en-US locale even before the agent hand off? In other words, will the customer see the bot responses in their language before they are eventually connected to an agent.

    I think that we only translate messages that we receive after the agent is engaged.  In theory it should be possible to translate every message, but it is not something that we built into the blueprint today.  But it is just a blueprint, so a customer is free to take the code and hack away at it to make it do what they need.

    Web Messaging and Open Messaging store messages in a similar manner within Genesys Cloud, so the update to the blueprint should work for both.
