  • 1.  Getting started with Nuance Recognizer 10 and CIC 2016

    Posted 07-12-2016 09:27
Hi, I have been tasked with getting Nuance to work with our existing CIC environment. I have gone through the KB pages at the ININ portal and have installed and configured Nuance Recognizer 10 based on the guide here. I do not have prior experience with Nuance or using any other ASR engine and am looking for suggestions on how to get started with building an IVR flow with Nuance as the Reco engine. It would be great if someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks Tanmay

If you have no experience building ASR grammars and designing an IVR with ASR, it is not recommended that you try to do it on your own. I used to teach the IC classes for speech technologies, and at that time Nuance recommended a PhD in Linguistics to be able to build a grammar properly. Nuance has professional services http://www.nuance.com/for-business/automatic-speech-recognition/automated-ivr/index.htm Also, Interactive Intelligence has professional Services with ASR experts to help you. You didn't mention reading the Technical Reference Documents: http://help.inin.com/cic/mergedProjects/wh_tr/desktop/speech_recognition_overview_.htm http://help.inin.com/cic/mergedProjects/wh_tr/desktop/interaction_speech_recognition.htm http://help.inin.com/cic/mergedProjects/wh_tr/desktop/asr.htm

Hi George, Thanks for the suggestions. I am not going to be building the ASR grammars, someone is assisting me with that. I was looking for how to use those grammars from within the Attendant. I will go through the provided links and be back if I have more questions. Thanks Tanmay

Hi Tanmay, My name is Jon McCain and I work in our Speech Enablement group whose job is to do just what you need. Our team creates Speech Enabled IVR's utilizing industry standard Voice User Interface best practices and technologies. Regarding your statement of, '... someone is building the grammars for us and I need to know how to use those in Interaction Attendant'. Unfortunately, Interaction Attendant doesn't allow the specification or passing in of Custom Grammars. The only way to do this is to do so via the Register Grammar Handler toolstep or using VoiceXML to design your application. The latter is what our team does as that is the industry standard for VUI Design and implementation for Speech Applications. Please email SpeechPreSales@inin.com to discuss how our team can help you create a world class speech application for your company. Sincerely, Jon

Hi Tanny, It looks like in an attempt to edit my post I accidentally removed it. My apologies. If you missed it I was outlining the fact that to use custom grammars you must either create the speech application in custom handlers or using VoiceXML. The good news for you is my team was created to help you build such speech applications. If you'd like to learn more about what our team has to offer in the realm of world class speech applications please email SpeechPreSales@inin.com and we'll get in touch right away. Sincerely, Jon W. McCain Team Lead, Sr. Speech Application Developer
