Can we use Regular Expressions in Expression Editor somehow? I do not think it is currently possible.

No you cannot use regex in the expression editor.  However you might be able to accomplish whatever you need using the existing text functions.   Open expression help (click the F() in the large expression editor), filter by text, and see if you can use 1 or more of those to match your desired pattern.
